Winding systems for atmospheric processes
R2R roll-to-roll systems for lab, industrial and cleanroom environments for all flexible materials and atmospheric processes.
Material widths range from a few millimeters up to more than one meter.
Typical processes include all types of coating/printing and structuring (e.g. using laser) and the corresponding after-treatments,
each tailored to your specific needs, requests and requirements.

Material widths range from a few millimeters up to more than three meters;
speeds range from a few meters per minute (m/min) up to several meters per second (m/s).

Laminating systems

From batch laminating systems for research all the way to fully automated in-line laminating systems: Adenso offers everything from a single source, tailored to your specific process requirements.
ATM-VAC hybrid solutions
Hybrid systems that consist of atmospheric and vacuum processes – also known as combination systems – offer advantages in terms of quality and process reliability. This reduces material stress to the absolutely necessary minimum, which is crucial for highly sensitive substrates in particular. Furthermore, combining atmospheric and vacuum processes into one substrate run in combined ATM-VAC-ATM systems reduces transportation distances and saves costs.
Our concept involves providing our customers with an independently functioning unit with few clearly defined interfaces:
1. Mechanical interface = chamber sealing surface (vacuum) or winder card (atmosphere)
2. Electrical interface = network connection (Ethernet, EtherCAT, Profibus)
The respective winding system is designed specifically for the customer in terms of sheet run and process integration and commissioned entirely by Adenso.
This way, the contribution of our winding system expertise is guaranteed.
The superordinate system control communicates with the winding system via the network interface, issues commands and is fed back all important status information permanently.

This adControl setup based on Adenso WINDING.PLATFORM and covers the necessary effort for setup a fully working winding system. Your advantage: The basic setup of the R2R system can be in parallel to the setup and commissioning of the process modules – which saves time and guarantee a smooth integration – as stable base for customers process commissioning.
Roll-to-Roll-Platform
The Adenso R2R platform offers a wide range of modules. The unwinder and rewinder modules are generally required for roll-to-roll systems [R2R]. In the case of roll-to-sheet systems [R2S], only the unwinder is required, as the substrates are finally assembled into finished parts. The process modules are integrated into the process path according to customer requirements.
unWIND.300
Unwind base substrate
The unit unWIND.300 contains the parent substrate roll (coil) for unwinding with controlled speed and tension. An interleaf (liner) can be take out as an option as well.
LAM.300BS
Laminating additional layer
LAM.300BS takes over the main substrate and contains a second substrate roll (coil) for laminating both together at the bottom side of the main substrate – with controlled speed and tension. An interleaf (liner) can be take out as an option as well.
LAM.300TS
Laminating additional layer
LAM.300TS takes over the main substrate and contains a second substrate roll (coil) for laminating both together at the top side of the main substrate – with controlled speed and tension. An interleaf (liner) can be take out as an option as well.
UVI.300
UVI=ultraviolet imprint technology
UVI.300 akes over the substrate with topside liquid polymer coating and apply a 3D surface structure by forming structures with the UVI process drum – with controlled speed and tension. The fixation of the new structure will be carry out by an UV lamp (ultraviolet light source).
Remarks:
[#] Available types of forming ADDONs (cylinders/sleeves) with MICRO- and NANO-structures depends on the needed properties of your final product and needs to define separately in detail; an UVI process cylinder with sample structures are included in the scope for immediately start.
[##] Spray coating polymer properties, UV curing technology and structure types depends on polymer characteristics and can add as an option, according your specific process needs.
R3D.300
Three-dimensional forming from the roll
R3D.300 takes over a flexible polymer substrate and transform it into any three-dimensional geometry. Unique for this technology are the enormous degrees of deformation – with an even substrate load in terms of elongation. This even enables the shaping of flexible electronics with printed circuits and even applied components like resistors, capacitors, LED, …
Remarks:
[#] 3D-Forming of flexible electronics requires the use of special stretchable conductive pastes – pls. ask our team, they can support you to find a suitable solution.
[##] The 3D forming geometry will be customized for your application.
[###] For complex geometries it would be helpful or necessary to use the new MATRIX.HEATING technology, which are available as an option and allow to control the temperature and heat flow of each single point of the heated surface (MATRIX).
SIM.300
Customized process quality inspection
SIM.300 transports the substrate as base material, processed substrate or layer compound and inspect this carefully according to customer specifications.
Remarks:
Inspection tasks in general depends on a lot of customized parameters like substrates, processes, quality standards, …, therefore these are to be defined in relation to the application, and integrate into the inspection base module as an option.
LAS.300
Structuring and dicing
LAS.300 takes over the substrate (base material, processed substrate or layer compound) for structuring of layers (conductive, insulating ) and/or dicing into pieces according to customer specifications.
Remarks:
Laser tasks in general depends on substrate material, processed layer characteristics, laminating material and other – therefore these are to be defined in relation to the application. It is recommend to carry out some tests before defining the final configuration – pls. ask our team to find the best solution for your application.
CPM.300
Integration of customers processes
The unit CPM.300 transports the substrate through the module and it is intended to integrate customers processes in an easy way – in line with the other modules. It provides all necessary facilities like power supply, pneumatics, safety as well as a real time bus connection to the motion control system.

Rewind the processed substrate
reWIND.300 contains the processed substrate roll (coil) for rewinding with controlled speed and tension. An interleaf (liner) can be spool in as an option as well.
